What if a client refuses to pay?

In our freelancing journey, sometimes we come across some clients that refuse to pay the agreed fee after the service has been rendered. They will look for every way possible to either see that they do not pay at all or pay less than the agreed amount.

How do you handle this kind of situation?

Why would a freelancer agree to work without being paid first or at least paid 50% of the what's agreed on before starting the job? If you lose guard, bad clients will eat your payment.

I guess that it why it is advisable to make more use of freelancing platforms. That ensures that there is no shady business. But interacting with clients outside of them has no guarantee.

Never agree to work before you get paid as a freelancer especially if you are working on a solo individual arrangement.

A lot of people out there and not honest when it comes to paying you after you have delivered their jobs.
